Sorting Files and Feelings: Why Life Coaching Works

This week I cleaned out my file drawers.  Uuuhg, I know, right?

While facing this task can seem daunting, don’t you love that feeling when you have finished?  It’s great to have one less thing cluttering up your life.

Our feelings are a lot like these files.

Some files you want to keep – the one with my kid’s yearly class pictures.
Others are pretty necessary – taxes, yes, you should keep those.

Yet there are some files you can actually get rid of.

Perhaps somewhere along the way you created a file that you thought was necessary, but if you really step back and take a look at it – it’s not!  It’s only taking up space.

Where am I going with this?  How does this relate to feelings and life coaching?

And most importantly, why does it matter??

Keeping BRAIN CLUTTER to a minimum is a fundamental key to a successful life.

Feelings we want to keep include joy, excitement, confidence… the list could go on and on!

Feelings we should keep include sadness, grief, remorse, and other not-so-great feelings.  These are not comfortable, but we do want them.  They are an important part of the authentic connections we have in our relationships.

Feelings we can regularly get rid of?

Get ready…frustration, anger, guilt, shame, and all of the other emotions that shut you down or fire you up.
This might be news to you – it was to me when I discovered life coaching.

My coach helped me realize that I didn’t have to keep them in my life, and showed me how to release them.  It was a huge weight off of my shoulders and truly life changing.

It’s not to say that these feelings won’t come up, and that you shouldn’t feel them; but you have the option of CLEANING THEM OUT.

You can’t gloss OVER them, or work AROUND them if you really want to get rid of them.  You actually have to go THROUGH them to clear them out.
Freeing yourself from the shackles of these feelings clears your brain clutter, gives you more energy, and offers more clarity in the things that matter most in your life.

If your frustration or guilt files are bulging, it’s time to clean them out.

Hire a coach (that’s me!), buy a great self-help book (email me for awesome recommendations), or find your own path to de-cluttering them.

A life without frustration, anger or guilt?  Yes, Please!

Trust me, the time and effort you’ll put in… is worth it!
