One small step is all you need…

My friend Jody has built an awesome business.  She’s a mom of 4 and has a full life.  Her secret to success?  She starts everything with one small step.

Then, she takes the next step.

She puts one foot in front of the other, and keeps going.

She doesn’t spend time obsessing over making decisions and she doesn’t indulge in thinking “there’s too much to do.”

She just looks at what she wants, and takes a step.

It doesn’t matter how small the step is… as long as there is another one close behind it.

What have you been putting off getting started on? What task or goal is looming ahead and seems overwhelming?

What if you took one small step today, and another one tomorrow?

What if every day for the next year, you took a new tiny step?

What would you create?

I want to help you take a tiny step in your life (and I’ll even hold your hand through it).

If you are a mom who sometimes feels overwhelmed, exhausted, or inadequate – this is for you.

I’m offering a 1-hour webinar to teach you small ways you can simplify life and feel better.

I’m going to teach you the 7 “Mom Traps” and how you can climb OUT of them.

It’s time to be the happy, relaxed, confident woman you want to be.

Oh, and don’t forget to forward this to a mom you know and love <3

Can’t wait to see you there!

The Gift of Deciding

Today is my daughter’s birthday.

She’s headstrong, wild, and determined.
She’s so much fun that it’s easy to be her mom.
Except when it seems like it might take at least a decade off of my life…

I remember when we made the decision to add a third child and how certain I was.
I knew exactly what I wanted, without hesitation.
I also had no idea what to really expect and no way of knowing who or what was really coming my way.  That decision was one that was made and done.  It didn’t matter what unknown came up, or how difficult things would be, there was (and is) no going back on it.

Can you imagine what it would be like to make a decision about that change you’ve been wanting to make, with no option of going back?  It might seem scary, but it’s actually so much easier.

If you decided to lose weight, come what may, and there was no option to do anything different – can you see that you might feel freedom?

If you committed to self-compassion when it comes to being a mom and all the other insecurities that come up, what if there was no other destination possible?

Or how about that side business you’ve been wishing would be profitable?  What if the decision was one and done and your only job was to stay the course and make it work?

Decisions can feel scary, but making them brings so much freedom.

Make 1 decision today, big or small and make it happen.  Can you give yourself that gift of freedom?

Have a great day, one thought at a time!

Feeling “behind” schedule? I’ve got great news – you’re not behind at all.

It’s *Mindset Monday* – here’s your tip for a successful and productive week <3

A lot of the coaches in my training group are feeling overwhelmed. They feel behind and they are doubtful that they can get it all done.
Do you feel like you’re always behind? That you’ll never get caught up?

These thoughts (yes, the thoughts) are ruining your chances of ever feeling on top of things and actually getting ahead.

Here’s what I mean…

One coach is thinking, “I’ll never get this all done…”
This thought causes her to feel overwhelmed.
She starts to shut down and avoid. Her thinking is blocked because she is feeling so overwhelmed. Naturally, she isn’t very productive.

The result – She will never get it all done.

Another coach is also thinking, “I’ll never get this all done…”
This thought is causing her to feel overwhelmed too.
When she feels overwhelmed she takes frantic action. She’s rushing, cramming her schedule insanely full, and getting completely stressed out. As a result, she is becoming busier, but less productive. She’s starting to break down. She’s not sure how long she can keep this up.

The result – she will never get it all done.

You can see clearly that in both cases – their results are a direct product of their thinking. When we choose a line of thinking that creates a negative feeling, we will always get a negative result.

What all of these students need is coaching. They don’t need more hours in the day or an easier certification process – they simply need to clean up their thoughts.

There are so many options about how we think about our life. The thought path we choose WILL determine our results.

I didn’t get some things finished that I planned to do last week.
I know that believing I’m behind will not do me any good. It’s focusing on the past and it leaves me stuck. It sets me up to fail. So, I’m not going to believe that. Especially since I know I have some much better options.

One belief that is really powerful to me is that there is always enough time. I don’t believe I’m ever in an impossible situation. If there’s always enough time then my only job is to see what pieces of the puzzle fit where, and what things don’t fit in my puzzle at all.

What is most important?
What do I need to do to make sure those things happen?
What’s the solution to this problem?

If you believe you are always behind, please stop it.

It’s the fastest way to get you further behind. It’s not useful thinking and it’s sure to cause you a lot of negative turmoil and stress.
This week, look at solutions and results. Focus there and you will always get closer to your goals.

Have a great week!

5 Things: Life Coach Insights

Motherhood

I’m heading to California this morning to train life coaches and I’m so excited!

It’s an amazing week of challenging our minds and opening the door to new possibilities.
It’s almost magical.

The magic isn’t there because of me, or Brooke Castillo, or some mystical force.  The magic is there because of small and simple truths and basic principles.

It’s the little things that create the really big and amazing things in life.

I’ve thought about the 5 basic things I hope everyone understands before they leave the training, and here they are (yes, write these down…)

  1. Every result in your life and relationships begins in your brain.  Thoughts create feelings, feelings drive actions, actions create results.  The easiest and most effective way to create a different result is by looking at your thought patterns and beliefs… not forcing action.

  1. Circumstances cannot “make” you feel anything.  You are not bound to a certain experience of your circumstances.  Life will hand you circumstances, and you get to choose what you create with them and how you experience them.

  1. Feelings are meant to be felt.  Avoiding them creates problems.  Fearing them perpetuates anxiety.  Welcome your feelings – the good, the bad, and the ugly.

  1. You are not supposed to be anyone other than you.  You are the coach your clients need.  You are the parent your children need.  You are the most qualified person to live your life.

  1. Don’t believe everything you think.  Yep, remember that one.  When you think you “can’t” or you “don’t know” or you are “failing,” remember that it’s just a thought.  And you don’t need to believe it.

Mompreneur, Life Redesign Coach

Goodbye control, hello results.

life coach

Sarah wants so badly for her husband to make different choices.  He consistently does things that she sees as destructive, he’s unhappy, and it’s affecting their marriage.  Her desire to control his actions isn’t helping the marriage either.

Christine wants her kids to help out more around the house, but it’s usually easier to just do it herself.  She wants things done well and, let’s be honest… there is always a significant “learning curve” when it comes to kids and jobs.

Molly wants to grow her business, but in order to do that she needs to let go of doing everything herself.  She takes her business personally and she wants everything to reflect the standard she has set.  She’s afraid to let go.

While these scenarios are all extremely different, they each require a willingness to let go of control to get a better result.

Being controlling has such a negative connotation.  None of us want to think of ourselves as controlling.  But… most of the time our desire control comes from a place of SUCH good intention.

It’s not our intention that’s in question, it’s how effective we are at meeting our goals when we can’t let go of control.

Sometimes we need to ask ourselves, do I want to keep a false sense of control, or do I want my desired result?  What is more important?  That’s the question.

So, what about you?  Where are you resisting letting go?  Where do you feel a need to stay in control, fearful of what might happen if you don’t?  And the big question… is staying in that place helping your situation or not?

For me, it’s not.  After much resistance and denial, I’m ready to take that step forward.  I’m excited to grow my business and I’m so thankful that you are along for the ride.  I’m looking forward to touching more lives and connecting with more amazing souls.
