life’s disappointments

It’s time for *Think it Thursday* and life’s disappointments.

We all experience pain and disappointment.

Disappointment that our life didn’t turn out the way we wanted.

Pain in watching our kids suffer. Frustration in not having or achieving what we want in life, despite major efforts.

It’s normal, and yet it doesn’t make it easy.
All the pain we experience, is pain we cause with our brain.

I know it doesn’t seem to be true, but it is.
And most of the time it’s because we are believing things should be different than they are.

My son shouldn’t have autism.
My husband should want the same things that I want.

I shouldn’t have this autoimmune illness.

Sometimes reality is a tough pill to swallow.
But refusing to swallow it – makes it even worse.

Accepting reality of what’s happening and believing it’s as it should be, is one of the most magical things you’ll do.

You’ll stop fighting against what’s happening and focus all of your energy toward appreciating, problem-solving, and loving. And you just might find that there are some really amazing things happening… that you couldn’t see before.

What’s happening should be happening, because it is.

There are reasons for everything that we can’t possibly see.

Life make’s sense when you look backwards at it, but we have to live it forward.

Go forward. Trust it. I know you can do it.

It’s time for *Think it Thursday* and 1 year ago.

Exactly 1 year ago today I launched my book!

And because of support from followers like you – it became a bestseller within 24 hours.

As I’ve heard from so many of you over the last year about how the book has changed your life, I’ve felt even more gratitude for the opportunity to write it.
And it’s also become clear to me that the book, didn’t change any lives at all.

The women who bought it and opened up a desire to learn from it – changed their own lives.

The book is there, but not everyone’s lives are changed.
Changing our lives requires us to be ready.
It requires openness.
It requires us to decide that we deserve better in our lives.

Do you deserve better?  Do you deserve to live a fulfilling and happy life?
Do you deserve to feel good about who you are?

I say yes, you absolutely do.
I hope you agree.

It’s been an honor to share my book with you.
Thank you.

I can’t trust you

One of the most important aspects of self confidence, is the ability to trust yourself.

Trusting yourself to be able to make a decision, without second guessing constantly.

Trusting yourself to have your own back, rather than putting yourself down.

And trusting yourself to follow through on what you say you’ll do.

Do you follow through for you?
Do you show up for you?

If you’re feeling guilty just reading these questions – here’s what I’ve got for you.

You can decide today to become a person who follows through for you.

You can set yourself up for success by picking 1 small thing each day that you’ll follow through on.

Today I promise I’ll give myself a 10-minute break from the chaos of the day.
Today I promise I’ll walk for 5 minutes around the block to get moving.
Today I promise I’ll eat something amazing for my body.
Today I’ll say 3 kind things to myself.

The promise should be small – a no brainer that you’ll do it.

Every time you follow through, you’re telling yourself that you respect you and that you will be true to your word.

You’re developing a relationship of trust, that will build self-confidence.

What promise will you make?

Say it out loud.
Email it to me.
Do it.

do you like yourself?

It’s *Think it Thursday* and do you like yourself?

Last week my client Jenny was listing her accomplishments.

We started talking about things like graduating from college, getting awards, and winning medals.

Then we decided to shift gears to the invisible accomplishments. The ones that no one else can see, but that equal the real wins in her life.

We dove right in to the personal work she’s been doing since we started coaching.

And like magic, this came out of her mouth…

“I’ve actually learned to like myself again.”

Yes. Magic.

The awards and medals, couldn’t hold a candle to this.

When she hired me a few months ago, she was terrified to invest in herself. She was worried she wouldn’t follow through. She actually cried as she made the decision. She knew she needed to change, but was afraid to bet on herself.

And yet, she did it. She was afraid, and she did it anyway.

And here she is, just a few months later, with a totally different relationship with herself.

She’s more confident. Happier. More hopeful. More grounded.

Are you willing to bet on you in life?

Do you invest in you?

Do you like you?

If not, perhaps something needs to change.

And the only one who can really make that change – is you.

I say go for it.

a plan

It’s your *Think it Thursday* and a plan.

How often do you plan your time?

Do you love to plan? Hate to plan? Fight against it? Feel restricted?

I can relate to all of these statements to be honest.

Planning and organizing my life is not something that comes naturally to me.
I crave order and systems, and yet I fight against it.

But, I’m doing it anyway.

As I’ve been planning more, here’s what I’ve found:

Planning never seems exciting, but I do it anyway. (and feel awesome afterward)

When I have a plan, I waste less time.
When I plan my “do nothing time,” I enjoy that time much more.

Planning makes my life easy.
Planning takes the weight of worry off my shoulders.

When I say, “I’m too busy to plan or be organized” – I’m wrong.

Planning is the remedy to busyness.
