Mindset Monday: When you just don’t want to.

It’s time for *Mindset Monday* and sometimes, we just don’t want to.

We don’t want to work.
We don’t want to face our fears.
We don’t want to do… anything.

When you’re running a business and managing a family, the days of “I don’t want to.” will come.  Sometimes more often than we’d like to admit.

Lately there’s been so much on my plate and so much on my mind, that I’ve noticed my brain wanting to sink into the “I don’t want to” slump.  Thankfully, I know that “I don’t want to,” isn’t true at all.

Just because I don’t feel like something in the moment, doesn’t mean that I don’t want to do it in my life.

Of course I want to work.  I have an amazing business that helps people every single day.  It provides for my family and allows me the satisfaction of making a difference in the world.

Of course I want to face my fears.  If I don’t, I’ll simply stay stagnant and end up dissatisfied with life.  I won’t help anyone if I stay stuck.

And of course, I want to do the housework and take care of my family.  I’m building something amazing in our home.  It’s so worth every effort that I put in.

So just because I don’t feel like it, doesn’t mean I don’t want to.

I want to show up.
I want to do the work.

Even when it’s hard or inconvenient, I want to do it.

I’m all in.
How about you?

Have a great week!

Never feel overwhelmed again: The simple secret

Math is so easy.
It always works.

My mom used to tell me she loved math because 2+2, always equals 4.
There is no guessing game and even better, it’s the secret to eliminating the feeling of overwhelm.

Last week, Janet told me that her desk was such a mess.  Every time she thought “it’s such a mess,” she felt defeated.
And the more she thought about her desk, the more overwhelmed she became.
Her desk wasn’t really overwhelming; her desk was really just math.

1 desk.  3 piles of paper.  25 to do items.  4 books to sort and find a home for.  15 things to throw away.  You get the idea.

And each item required a certain amount of time.  5 minutes.  10 minutes.  1 hour.
When we quantified each item and gave it a time frame, the desk didn’t seem so bad. When we scheduled each task like an appointment, there was no need to feel overwhelmed, or wonder if it would get cleaned up.  It was already decided – as good as done.

How can you use math to your advantage?  What task seems to be overwhelming to you?
What’s the math involved and how can you schedule that math to make completion inevitable?

Do it.  You’ve got this.

Easier Than Ever

As you start your week, make a list of 5 things that come easily to you now that used to be hard.

It can be anything.

When I first started my business it was really hard for me to make changes to my website. There were so many things to figure out and it was all new. It seemed complicated and difficult.

Now, it’s no problem. I’ve learned how to do it without batting an eye. I got through the hard part and now it’s easy.

It’s useful to make this list and look at it to see how far you’ve come.

Because of course, you now have a list of 5 things that seem really hard to you. They might seem complicated or difficult. But the only reason they seem that way is that you haven’t done them yet.

One day the five things that are difficult today will be on your “this is easy list.”

The only thing between now and then is time and practice. That’s it.

Make the list.

Celebrate your success.

Remember that it’s possible.

Have a great week!

A Deadline

What have you been putting off doing in your business?

You know, that one little thing that seems like a pain? Or too time consuming?

I want you to set a deadline. Today. Now, in fact.

When will you do it?

What’s the time frame you’ll allow for it?

And what will you finally be able to move forward with when you do it?

Set the deadline. Make it happen. Move forward with your goals.

Have a great week!

It’s Saturday and I’m contemplating how I’m going to do what “seems” impossible.

Sometimes motherhood feels impossible.

Sometimes creating and maintaining a serious money-making business seems impossible.

With the combination of the two… I could be stuck in the land of impossible.

But I refuse.  It’s just too important to me.

I remember when passing my statistics class seemed impossible.  It’s funny to look back now as I mostly remember the time I spent tutoring a friend as we both worked towards an “A.”

I think back to my first pregnancy when I wondered if I would die just from exhaustion! I didn’t know how I would make it through each day, let alone those long months.  But here I am, alive and well with an amazing teenager.

I vividly remember being in the depths of emotional turmoil and indescribable fear as I moved forward with my divorce.  The feelings could have been paralyzing.  I had no idea what was to come, I only knew it was the right thing.  And I knew there was only one way to go… through it.

It’s so powerful to look back and realize that what “seemed” impossible was completely possible.  In fact, it was inevitable.

The same is true today – for me and for you.

And it all starts with a belief.

One of the most powerful beliefs I have is that I am meant to succeed.  I didn’t always believe that, but I believe it now 100%.  And I know that when I believe that it’s true – I will always make it true.

You see if I believe it’s true, all the fears and doubts are just a bit quieter.  My determination is stronger.  Inspiration becomes my driving force.  Any confusion becomes clear.

All of this allows me to do exactly what I need to in order to make my success a reality.  When I believe I will succeed, I will.

This is all available to you too, I promise.  In fact, I’ll let you borrow my belief in you for now while you work on your own.

I genuinely believe we were all designed and created to succeed. Overcoming doubt and fear is simply the way that we get there.  They don’t need to stop us.  They are only there to teach us.

What seems impossible to you?

What if you knew it was inevitable?  What if you received a letter from heaven above today assuring you that it would happen?  What would be different for you today?

Really think about it.

Most likely you’d take action.

The kind of action that is inspired and specific.  You’d no longer waste energy on the doubts.  You’d merely focus on how to make your dream a reality.

“It always seems impossible until it’s done.”  – Nelson Mandela

Happy Saturday!
