a plan

It’s your *Think it Thursday* and a plan.

How often do you plan your time?

Do you love to plan? Hate to plan? Fight against it? Feel restricted?

I can relate to all of these statements to be honest.

Planning and organizing my life is not something that comes naturally to me.
I crave order and systems, and yet I fight against it.

But, I’m doing it anyway.

As I’ve been planning more, here’s what I’ve found:

Planning never seems exciting, but I do it anyway. (and feel awesome afterward)

When I have a plan, I waste less time.
When I plan my “do nothing time,” I enjoy that time much more.

Planning makes my life easy.
Planning takes the weight of worry off my shoulders.

When I say, “I’m too busy to plan or be organized” – I’m wrong.

Planning is the remedy to busyness.

Let’s get you going.

Have a great day – one thought at a time!

you’re going to be okay

*Think it Thursday* and you’re going to be okay –

Today’s one of those days that I’m getting personal.

I’m speaking to those of you who feel you’re in a dark place, stuck, and wondering how you will make it through whatever challenge you are facing.

You may be feeling fear and worry that things won’t get better in your life.

I know just how you feel.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I’ve been redesigning my life and creating a new normal over the last few years as I’m navigating life as a single mom. I’ve been managing the ups and downs of chronic fatigue and trying to keep the faith that it will get better.

I’ve been forging ahead and yet – I’m sort of breathing a sigh of relief lately.  I feel that sense of, wow I made it through – and I’m still standing.  I’m still moving forward.

I remember feeling so much fear and experiencing deep sadness.
I remember so much uncertainty and wishing it would all just go away.

I’ve been putting one foot in front of the other and it wasn’t until recently that I had an appreciation for how much I’ve come through and what I’ve overcome.  Not because of me, but because of the possibilities that life allows us.

Within you is the ability to overcome every challenge in front of you.  Even when it’s not easy.

And believe me – it never feels easy.

If you’re reading this and feeling that you can’t keep going– I understand.
If you’re wondering if you’ll make it through – I understand.
If you’re thinking the end of this challenge should be sooner rather than later – I totally understand.

And yet I promise you – you can handle this challenge in front of you.

You are capable, and you are strong.

You were designed to overcome this challenge.

Your faith, your strength, and your courage will come together as a force of nature.  You’ll do it.  I promise.

Sending you extra love today.

Have a great day, one thought at a time!

the water is amazing

Woo hoo! It’s *Think it Thursday* and the water is amazing

I’m on vacation this week in Florida with my kids for Spring Break.
Wait, back up. I’m on a trip and my kids are on vacation 😉
(We all know how that goes, right?)

The water here is crazy bright blue! It’s gorgeous. The pictures are unbelievable.
I posted some pics on social media and sent some to friends too.
Everyone said, “Wow, enjoy that weather!”
“It looks perfect!”

In reality, when I took those pics it was in the 50s and windy.
We were freezing. I was wearing a sweatshirt and pants and the kid’s teeth were chattering.
But you’d never know it from the pictures.

It’s like when you see someone who seems to have it all together and you say, “How does she do it?”
Or you see a couple who looks happy and in love and you think, “Why isn’t my marriage like that?”
And you see a family laughing and perhaps you’re just wondering … “How do I keep my kids from fighting for 5 minutes?”

The picture is an illusion. And yet it’s real at the same time.
The beach was gorgeous. Breathtaking.
And freezing and slightly miserable too.

Your life is amazing and full of good.
And it’s full of frustration and heartache at the same time.

Enjoy what the picture has to offer and appreciate it.
And yet, don’t allow your brain believe that something is wrong with your life.
Your life is just as it should be.
Positive and negative and all of it.
That’s life. And it’s beautiful. Just like the water…

Have an amazing day, one thought at a time!

the secret to more energy

It’s *Think it Thursday* and I’m sharing with you the secret to more energy.

I’m teaching you something today that is my lifeline.

Some of you know I have chronic fatigue and it’s a constant challenge.

But this concept I’m telling you about, is a game changer.

Because we all get exhausted and worn out, especially as a mom.

My secret – energy management.

We hear a lot about time management, but the truth is that if you had more energy, you would make much better use of your time, right?

You can’t create more hours in the day, but you can create more energy.

There are certain things you do that energize you – maybe it’s alone time, maybe it’s social time.  Maybe it’s laughing or creating.  Take a minute to notice what energizes you.

There are other things that require more mental and emotional energy.  Leading kids in chores, balancing the budget, or sifting through your schedule for the week… stack these up and it could leave you spent, exhausted, with nothing left to give.

The key is to plan and manage your activities based on how they impact your energy.  The right combination is all the difference.

Think about this.  Time is finite.  There are 24 hour every day, period.

Energy is fluid.  You can manage your energy by building in plenty of activities that increase your energy, amongst those that drain it.

So today, here is your assignment:

List energizing and energy-depleting activities.  Plan them in to support you having sustained energy.  Revisit this idea often and just notice how you have the ability to manage your energy.

Magic.

Have a great day – one thought at a time!

Define yourself for success

It’s time for *Mindset Monday* and it’s all about defining yourself…

What thought defines you?
Let’s think about it.

Define is an action word.
If I’m working to define a muscle in my workout, I’m taking specific action to carve out that area.
There is nothing passive about defining.
Yet somehow when it comes to our own thoughts that define us, we just take what’s there.
We allow default thoughts to define us.
We look at past success or failure, and allow that to define us.  We allow it to determine what’s possible for us the next time around.
It doesn’t have to be that way.

Go ahead and think about it… what thought defines you?
I’m successful? I’m capable?  I make things happen?
Or is it more like
I can’t succeed as much as that person.
I’m not as smart as…
I’m not very organized.

Whatever thoughts define you, will always be true about you.

It doesn’t matter what success I achieved last year or last month.  I’m going to define myself and my level of success based on where I’m going tomorrow.
The thoughts that are going to define me, will take me exactly where I want to go.

I’m a person who manages my time well.
I’m a person who proves what’s possible beyond my current state.
I’m a person who moves mountains, even though it requires me to feel extreme fear and doubt and reach far beyond what’s comfortable for me.

And when those thoughts define me, that’s exactly who I become.

Choose your thoughts wisely.
Define yourself based on where you’re going.
Make those things true about you.

Have a great week!
