Boss Mom

One of my former clients sent me her success story last week.

She had her second baby last year while growing her business. She set some goals that seemed big and scary…

And she met them.

She had plans in her brain about what she wanted to do…

And she did them.

She is creating her life, rather than being at the effect of it.

One of my favorite things about her is that she is clear on her priorities and what she really wants.

She hired me to help her make her life happen – the way she wanted it to.

Are you true to your priorities? Do you create what you want? Are you willing to believe that more is possible for you?

I hope you’ll consider it.

Have an amazing day, one thought at a time!

Mom, I’m bored: A quick tip for Mompreneurs

When my kids tell me they’re bored…

I tell them it means I’m doing a great job as a mom.

They hate it when I say that.

I believe it’s good for my kids to be bored sometimes.  When they are bored, they do interesting things they wouldn’t otherwise do.  They learn that it’s their job to create an interesting life and challenge their minds – no one else’s.

As business owners, we have the job of keeping our business interesting.  There is no one offering us a sales incentive or rolling out a new program to encourage us.  We get to create that for ourselves.

Same goes with the job as “mom.”  When we are doing mundane work day in and day out, we are the ones that can create something interesting in our life.  If we are counting on the daily grind or our somewhat demanding kids to keep us from being bored, we will be sorely disappointed.

So the big *mindset Monday* question is – how do you keep your life interesting?  How do you create something meaningful in your business?  What is your source of internal motivation?  How do you tap into your creativity?

If your life seems boring or you are stuck in a rut… what can you do to change that?

And what would be different if you had that spark and excitement back to create something great?

Have a great week!

Mompreneur, you never “have to.”

Time for *Mindset Monday* and it’s all about making choices.

There are a lot of things we do, that we don’t love to do.

We often say, “I have to…”

Make sales calls.

Go over the budget.

Do the dishes.

Do the laundry.

It seems we don’t have a choice. We are obligated.  We believe we are a victim of our circumstances. We are stuck doing something that we “don’t want to do.”

This is a complete lie.  You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do.  You don’t have to make sales calls, but you probably WANT to so that you can increase your profit.

You don’t have to do the dishes, but you probably WANT to so that you have clean dishes to eat on.

Everything we do is a choice.  If we want certain rewards or results, then we WANT to do what it takes to get those.

Starting now and for the rest of the week – think about all of the choices you make.  When you find yourself feeling obligated doing something you “have to” do, you can remind yourself that it’s a total lie.  Do you want to do it?  Why or why not?  If you decide that you WANT to do it, then own that choice.

I want to go over the budget… so I can have money in the bank.

I want to do the laundry… so we have clean clothes to wear.

I even want to pay my taxes… so that I don’t go to jail.

They are all choices.  Own them and love them.  Start saying, “I want to.”

Don’t be a victim.  Be the creator of your life and success.

Have a great week!

Motivation Must Be Created

Time for *Mindset Monday*

Let’s be honest…

Sometimes it’s hard to stay motivated.
Especially when we have experienced repeated failed attempts, or we feel like we are just not progressing as quickly as we’d like.

When this happens, where do we find the motivation?
Well, we don’t find motivation, we create it.

Motivation is a feeling and our feelings are created by our thoughts.  If we believe we will make a million dollars this year, we will probably be pretty motivated to get to work.  On the contrary, if we only perceive more failures in our future … it’s hard to roll up our sleeves and dig in.

The way we think about our life and our business will determine whether we feel motivated or not.
We often think that we need external rewards to stay motivated, but intrinsic motivation is the only lasting kind.

There are some great ways to jump start motivation, but you can’t expect them to come to you.
Here are a few easy ideas:

Hire a coach to help you with your thought patterns and beliefs.  Find a mentor to give you guidance. Listen to inspiring podcasts or read books that encourage you.

Be proactive in creating motivation and you will establish lasting patterns that will drive success.

I hope you have a great week full of intrinsic motivation!
